Biography
MMark Schilling has over 30 years’ experience and is licensed in Texas and Oklahoma. Mr. Schilling received undergraduate degrees in business and political science from Southern Methodist University, Dallas, in 1990 and his law degree from University of Tulsa College of Law in 1993. He was a partner in the law firm Riggs, Abney, Neal, Turpen, Orbison & Lewis where he practiced insurance litigation, labor and employment, healthcare and medical liability.
In 2004 Mr. Schilling left the practice of law to lead an innovative specialty insurance company and focus on healthcare consulting on patient safety, provider quality and healthcare cost issues. Mr. Schilling served for 5 years on the Partner’s Advisory Committee for The Leapfrog Group in Washington, D.C. Leapfrog is made up of large national employers focused on patient safety and provider quality for their employee benefit plans. Mr. Schilling also spent 3 years consulting for Walmart and its health data management company, HDMS, working on data analytics for patient safety and provider quality issues.
Mr. Schilling joined GKBK in 2019 and is a partner. His current practice includes insurance defense litigation, trucking and cargo claims, business law and healthcare consulting.
Mr. Schilling is a “native” of The Woodlands, TX having moved here with his family in 1982 when it was still a small township with a population under 18,000 people. He moved back to the Woodlands with his family in 2008. When he is not working, Mr. Schilling spends his spare time outdoors. He enjoys hiking, backpacking, kayaking, camping and fishing. Basically, any excuse to spend time in the wilderness.
